St. Thomas More has come a long way since it broke ground for construction in 1973, at a time when the parish consisted of only 98 families. These families would gather together for worship on the premises of Walt Disney Elementary school under the guidance of Father Bernard Jewitt.

As the community continued to grow, it was no longer possible to gather at the school which led to the decision to break ground for a new church. It wasn’t until Palm Sunday, March 30, 1975, that the first community of St. Thomas More celebrated its first Mass in its new building.
